Happy New Year!

What a fantastic year!! And just as we settle into 2016 I wanted to give you all an overview of 2015 along with photos of some of our favourite bits, and our plans going forward.Charlotte & Geoff Colour-151Well, what can I say, it was our busiest year to date, with us reaching well over 70 weddings in 2015. I feel like we have come a long way over the last 8 years since starting my own business and I am delighted with the name and business I have built for myself and overwhelmed with the amount of recommendations we now have.

As a business it is always my aim to be very hands on, by keeping the business very personal and bespoke. I wanted to work on weddings only, as this is my true love with floristry and even though I have worked and managed many shops, around London and Essex, when starting the business I wanted to give couples my 100% attention for their wedding flowers. I do not run a shop, I do not do funeral flowers, gift flowers or other events and this allows me to give all of my time and attention to your wedding flowers, and with over 15 years experience we think it’s the perfect combination. Even though we had so many weddings in 2015, I was still able to design all of the flowers and be fully hands on with the make up of venue flowers and all bridal flowers. It was tough but I did it, with help from some fully trained freelance florists colleagues that help out at ?The Flower Mill at busy times.  Due to our year being so ‘Full On’ I did sacrifice any time off, which my hubby was not too pleased about, although secretly I think he liked having more time to watch football. We do now have a team of fully trained freelance florists who can be called on when needed at such times when we have large weddings. These lovely ladies have been hand picked by myself, as getting the right support when needed is important in fulfilling The Flower Mill brand that I have worked so hard to gain, but I am happy to be the driving force in all aspects of The Flower Mill I’m too much of a ‘Monica’ not to be, but enjoy a little help from my flowery colleagues.

We totally love what we do and love our work,  I could not think of doing anything else. Our reputation stands very proud and this is what drives me to perfecting every wedding.

We just love creating your flowers and seeing the brides face when delivering her bouquet or receiving the many many thank you letters we do. We also love photos so it’s always a pleasure to receive any professional images! Thank you photographers out there!

Another big part of last year was the big move to a larger studio! We now have much more room, and is my little place of flower heaven!

Finally, as we look forward to our weddings for 2016  and beyond we would like to continue creating beautiful flowers for weddings, building those all important relationships which with love, with our future couples and supplying a service to couples that we truly believe in. We are reducing the number of weddings we take per year up to around 30-40, as my husband really did forget what I looked like last year!  We would like to thank each and every couple who have booked us, recommended us and have let us be a small part of such a special day! We look forward to moving forward in 2016 and seeing what it brings and would like to thank you all for keeping us in a job we just love to do! Happy New Year! Xxx

Congratulations to Chris & Dan

Congratulations to Chris & Dan married at the beautiful Blake Hall, Ongar, Essex on 10th October 2014. Chris & Dan booked us a while ago, and had a clear idea of what they liked. They wanted lots of colour with a real relaxed feel to their day, with lots of rustic jars and containers, with meadow style flowers, which suits to barn so well. We really loved the splash of colour.

We hope you guys had a fabulous day, a real treat to work with and we wish you every happiness for your future together, lots of love, Karen and The Team @ The Flower Mill.

As seen on Channel 5’s  “I Want That Wedding”

Many thanks to Austin at Blake Hall for the share of the great images.

Congratulations to Sara & Asrit

Congratulations to Sara & Asrit Married on 20th September 2014 and the very pretty Ingatestone Hall. Sara ideas and colours were gorgeous and I could tell straight away we liked the same things. Around 4 weeks before her wedding Sara changed her mind on her bouquet and decided to go for a large presentation style bouquet, she was a very petite lady so I was a little concerned however she loved the bouquet and wanted to make a statement. We thinks he looked gorgeous, thank you for the images Sara. Her big personality carried off her flowers beautifully and I sense a trend as we are getting asked for lots of this style of bouquet. Sara wanted lots of Succulents in her designs along with lots of twine, and David Austin Garden Roses in lots of pastel shade. The lanterns (sorry these so many pictures, we loved them…) had a small posy of flowers to one side and two crystal vases with blooms on the other side. The cake looked gorgeous too, and a family friend was decorating it when we left so sadly didn’t get to see it finished with our flowers on it, but it was a very pretty ‘naked’ cake, with no icing but full of berry fruits, just suited the whole theme so well. We must say we loved this wedding! And we loved the Elephants outside the front of the Marquee!

I was in love with the lantern table centres and though they looked stunning!

Congratulations to you both, we were delighted to have worked with you and wish you every happiness for your future together, have a wonderful honeymoon! Best Wishes, Karen, Charlotte & The Team @ The Flower Mill xxx
